My Hometown Karak (BAJD) March 12, 2008
I have decided to dedicate my post for today, the Blog About Jordan Day, to my hometown Karak. For the people who dont know, Karak is a city in the south of Jordan, a city which natives are known to be generous, good hearted and simple. It has a lot of history, a castle and a musuem to tell you that history. We are very well known as the capital of Mansaf, the most famous Jordanian dish and the pride of many. No occaision is complete without this special dish.

I have little memories of Karak because I didn’t live there, for a few years one of my auntes was living there and the visit for me, my brother and two cousins who were very close to us was considered our wildest dream coming true. Sorry sis you were not born at the time ;).
We enjoyed spending the few days in my aunte’s 3 bedroom house, that would some how fit for twelve people. We enjoyed waking up early for breakfast, going to visit my dad’s old strange cousin who had a very old small home, run around there, get told off and be quiet.
One of the weird things we did was eat chewing gum while munching on black grapes waiting to see who’s gum would change color, no one did of course.
We were so happy back then, but now my aunte has moved to Amman, my cousins and me are not living in Jordan for the time being, and well, we just simply grew up…

Yis3ed Rab el Karak .. oo rab el Mansaf!
That picture is breath taking! Wow!
And just for mentioning this, I will have a cup of Jameed Karaki that I made over the weekend! And true, no occasion is complete without Jameed!
